Abstract

This article investigates the growth, instability, and comparative advantage of Indian rice exports. India has re-emerged as a significant player in the global rice market, but its export performance is subject to various internal and external factors contributing to volatility. This study analyzes historical trends in rice exports, assesses the degree of instability in export volumes, and examines India's revealed comparative advantage in rice. Understanding these dynamics is crucial for formulating effective agricultural and trade policies to ensure sustainable growth and bolster India's position in the international rice trade. The findings highlight areas for policy intervention to mitigate instability and capitalize on India's competitive strengths in the global rice market.
