Reviewers Guidelines
International Journal of Social Sciences, Language and Linguistics (IJSSLL)
Reviewer’s Role and Responsibilities
As a peer reviewer for the International Journal of Social Sciences, Language and Linguistics (IJSSLL), you play a pivotal role in upholding the academic quality, integrity, and reputation of the journal. Your primary responsibilities include:
Evaluating manuscripts for originality, academic rigor, clarity, significance, and compliance with ethical standards.
Providing constructive, unbiased feedback to help authors improve their work.
Assisting the editorial team in making informed decisions about the acceptance, revision, or rejection of submissions.
Maintaining confidentiality throughout the review process and refraining from sharing or discussing manuscript content with others.
Expertise and Objectivity
Reviewers should only accept assignments for which they have the appropriate subject matter expertise.
If a reviewer feels unqualified to evaluate any part of a manuscript, they should inform the editor immediately.
Reviews must be conducted objectively and impartially, free from personal or professional bias.
Reviewers should avoid evaluating manuscripts where a conflict of interest exists due to relationships with authors, institutions, or funding bodies.
Timeliness
Timely reviews are essential to ensure efficient processing of manuscripts. Reviewers are expected to submit their evaluations within the agreed deadline.
If a reviewer cannot meet the deadline, they should promptly inform the editorial office so that alternate arrangements can be made.
Confidentiality and Conflicts of Interest
Manuscripts under review are confidential documents and must not be disclosed to or discussed with others.
Reviewers must not use any information obtained during the peer review process for personal advantage or research purposes.
Any potential conflicts of interest—financial, academic, or personal—should be disclosed to the editor immediately.
Evaluation Criteria
Reviewers are asked to assess submissions based on the following criteria:
Originality and contribution to the field of social sciences, language, or linguistics
Relevance and alignment with the journal’s aims and scope
Clarity and coherence of arguments, structure, and presentation
Soundness of methodology and research design
Quality and depth of analysis and interpretation
Adherence to ethical research standards
Proper citation of prior work and academic sources
Reviewers should support their evaluations with specific examples and evidence, highlighting both strengths and areas for improvement.
Constructive Feedback
Comments should be clear, respectful, and intended to improve the quality of the manuscript.
Avoid vague statements and offer specific suggestions for revisions or clarifications.
Use professional and courteous language at all times—reviews should be critical but not harsh or dismissive.
Recommendation
Based on their review, reviewers should recommend one of the following outcomes:
Accept: The manuscript is suitable for publication with no or minimal revisions.
Minor Revisions: The manuscript requires small adjustments or clarifications.
Major Revisions: Substantial reworking is necessary to address methodological or conceptual issues.
Reject: The manuscript does not meet the journal’s standards or falls outside its scope.
Each recommendation should be clearly justified in the reviewer’s comments.
Final Comments
Reviewers may include additional comments for the editor (confidential) and/or the authors.
The goal is to foster an academic dialogue that strengthens the quality and impact of scholarly work.
