Geographical Analysis of Rural Market Dynamics in North India
Abstract
This study provides a comprehensive geographical analysis of rural market dynamics in North India, focusing on spatial patterns, infrastructural development, consumer behavior, and supply chain structures. By integrating GIS mapping with field surveys across selected districts in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab, the research identifies key drivers influencing market accessibility, distribution efficiency, and consumption trends in rural economies. The study highlights the critical role of transportation networks, agro-based industries, and digital penetration in shaping the functionality and reach of rural markets. It also explores disparities in market development linked to topography, administrative boundaries, and socio-economic indicators. The findings offer policy-relevant insights for strengthening rural market infrastructure and enhancing inclusive economic growth in the region.
