Publication Ethics
International Journal of Material Sciences and Manufacturing Engineering (IJMSME)
The International Journal of Material Sciences and Manufacturing Engineering (IJMSME) strictly adheres to ethical publishing standards and best practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). As a peer-reviewed scholarly journal, IJMSME is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency, accountability, and professionalism throughout every stage of the publication process.
All participants involved in scholarly publishing—including authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher—are expected to comply with these ethical principles to preserve the reliability and credibility of the academic record.
Ethical Conduct of Research
Authors must ensure that their research is conducted ethically, responsibly, and professionally. Experimental investigations, material characterization studies, manufacturing processes, computational simulations, engineering analyses, and laboratory-based research must be presented honestly, accurately, and transparently.
For studies involving human participants, industrial data, proprietary technologies, environmental impact assessments, or research requiring ethical oversight, authors must obtain appropriate approvals and clearly state them within the manuscript where applicable.
Originality and Plagiarism
Manuscripts submitted to IJMSME must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by any other journal or publication platform.
Plagiarism in any form—including:
- Direct copying;
- Improper paraphrasing;
- Duplicate publication;
- Self-plagiarism;
- Unauthorized use of figures, tables, images, graphs, datasets, or experimental results; is strictly prohibited.
All submissions undergo plagiarism screening using professional plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts found to violate originality standards may be rejected immediately or retracted after publication if misconduct is discovered later.
Authorship and Contributorship
Authorship must accurately reflect individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research and manuscript preparation.
All listed authors should:
- Contribute significantly to the conception, design, experimentation, analysis, or interpretation of the study;
- Participate in drafting or critically revising the manuscript;
- Approve the final version before submission;
- Accept responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the work.
Individuals who contributed to the research but do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.
Conflict of Interest
Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial, academic, institutional, industrial, or personal conflicts of interest that could influence the evaluation or publication of a manuscript.
All disclosed conflicts will be assessed carefully to maintain transparency, fairness, and objectivity in editorial decision-making.
Peer Review Ethics
IJMSME follows a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure academic quality, fairness, and impartiality.
Reviewers are expected to:
- Evaluate manuscripts objectively and professionally;
- Provide constructive and evidence-based feedback;
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts;
- Disclose any potential conflicts of interest;
- Avoid using unpublished material for personal research or professional advantage.
Editors are responsible for making publication decisions based solely on:
- Scholarly merit;
- Scientific and technical rigor;
- Originality;
- Relevance to material sciences and manufacturing engineering;
- Ethical compliance.
Data Transparency and Reproducibility
Authors must present experimental procedures, material properties, manufacturing methodologies, analytical techniques, computational models, and research data accurately and transparently.
Sufficient methodological detail should be provided to allow replication and verification of the study by other researchers.
Where applicable, authors are encouraged to:
- Share datasets;
- Provide simulation codes or software scripts;
- Submit supplementary materials;
- Disclose equipment, instruments, and software used in the research;
- Make research methods as transparent as possible.
If data or code cannot be shared publicly due to confidentiality, intellectual property, or industrial agreements, authors should be prepared to provide them upon reasonable request from editors or reviewers.
Responsibilities of Authors
Authors are responsible for:
- Ensuring the originality, accuracy, and integrity of their manuscript;
- Properly citing all references and prior work;
- Obtaining permission for copyrighted material when necessary;
- Following journal policies on ethical research and publication;
- Promptly notifying the editorial office of any significant errors discovered after submission or publication.
Misconduct, Corrections, and Retractions
IJMSME takes all allegations of publication misconduct seriously.
In cases involving:
- Plagiarism;
- Data fabrication or falsification;
- Duplicate publication;
- Citation manipulation;
- Ethical violations;
- Authorship disputes;
- Image manipulation or data misrepresentation;
the journal reserves the right to take appropriate corrective action, including:
- Rejection of the manuscript;
- Publication of corrections or errata;
- Retraction of published articles;
- Notification of affiliated institutions, employers, or funding bodies where necessary.
Ethical Commitment
By adhering to these publication ethics standards, IJMSME seeks to uphold the integrity of scholarly communication and provide a trusted international platform for high-quality research in material sciences, manufacturing engineering, industrial technologies, advanced materials, and related interdisciplinary fields.
